Burr grinders are unquestionably the preferred method for grinding coffee. Burr grinders work by crushing the coffee beans between one spinning and one stationary, semi-concave disks or burrs. The disks also spin more slowly than a blade grinder, which in turn generates less friction avoiding heat, creating a much more consistent grind. The closer each burred piece of metal is to the other, the finer the resulting coffee ground. Coffee beans are gravity fed from a sloped hopper (the top part of the grinder which holds the beans).
Burr grinders should be cleaned regularly (which can require more work than a blade grinder) but reward of the quality grind is definitely worth it!
For the best, most consistent quality grind at an affordable price, Storehouse Coffee Company recommends choosing a Burr Grinder.
