A Crowned Jewel of Kenyan coffees!

This is a superb Micro Lot Kenyan coffee from the Komothai Coffee Growers Cooperative.
This is a truly "Best in Class" coffee that is the result of diligent processing methodologies and extremely high growing elevations.

We are very excited to have this exceptional and unique coffee offering from Kenya back in stock!

General Flavor Observations
Kenya Kanake - Micro Lot

When I think in terms of excellence in Kenyan coffee, I am looking for uniformity in the cup, deep body, balanced fruit notes, and bright acidity.
All of these attributes are present, and the subtle differences between the roast levels serve to accentuate them.

The aroma from grinding and brewing will release notes of elder flower, orange, and cocoa.
The body will range from full to deep, and the flavor attributes will range from dark berry to apricot to raw sugar; all depending on the roast.

Roast Level Profile Notes
Kenya Kanake - Micro Lot

It was a real challenge selecting the preferred roast level.
I chose Full City because it is in the mid-range for highlighting the best attributes.

We are always happy to accommodate any roast level you prefer.
The notes below illustrate how the various roast levels will change the profile:

City Roast (light roast)

A City Roast will provide a lighter body with notes of orange and a nice, red wine-like acidity. The elder flower and raw sugar attributes flow into a crisp, light finish. If you want to experience pure Origin Characteristics, then this is a good choice.

Full City Roast (medium roast) - Preferred

Full City is a well balanced roast level for this coffee. The body will be full and round with sweet fruit tones (blackberry on the start and raspberry on the finish). While slightly tempered, the sparkling acidity remains and highlights the red fruit tones. Notes of cola and raw sugar are present on the finish, which is clean and sweet.

Full City (+) Roast

With this roast level, the body will deepen and juicy fruit tones will emerge (black currant and dark-red berry). The acidity softens yet remains lively with hints of apricot. The finish lingers with a cocoa and honey-like texture.

Vienna Roast

A Vienna Roast will create a syrupy and silky body with notes of dark chocolate throughout. The black currant fruit tones prevail, the acidity low, and the finish pointed. This would go nicely with desert to offset sweetness.

French Roast

I can't really recommend a French Roast for our Kenya Kanake as it will eclipse most of the characteristics that define this wonderful and unique coffee.
