Tanzania Peaberry Zanzibar is a premium blend from high-altitude estates in Southern Tanzania (Utengule estate) and Northern Tanzania (Mondul estate).
The Utengule coffee estate is a traditional, well-managed East African coffee farm that produces exquisite quality.
The Mondul estate was developed by Count Vottorio Davico di Quittengo in 1931. His two sons continue to run the estate with the same entrepreneurial spirit and social commitment of their father.

The notes below illustrate how the various roast levels will change the profile:
City Roast (light roast)
City roast is great for experiencing the more herbaceous cup.
Notes of tangerine, cranberry, chocolate, and a brighter, nuttier finish.
Keep in mind that this will be a rather intense experience, but quite wonderful.
Full City Roast (medium roast)
The perfect balance between roast and origin characteristics, which will offer a medium-bodied cup with a solid bakers chocolate base.
The mouth-feel is super-smooth with notes of sweet caramel and a mild nuttiness.
The finish is clean and lingering with hints of stone fruit and green tea, topped off with snappy citric highlights.
A wonderful cup.
Full City (+) Roast
Our second favorite roast level for this coffee.
This roast will offer a seriously juicy mouth-feel, darker chocolate, and a deeper body.
Notes of sweet pipe tobacco and toasted caramel give way to a long, pointed finish with notes of darker stone fruit and citrus.
Outstanding!
Vienna Roast
This roast will provide a heavier, deeper, body with bitter-sweet dark chocolate tones and an extremely tempered acidity.
The finish is very smooth, but tapers quickly.
French Roast
Not recommended.

What is a Peaberry?:
Most coffee cherries contain 2 beans that are flat on one side and rounded on the other.
When a coffee cherry only yields one bean that is completely rounded and oval in shape, this is known as a Peaberry.
Typically, but not always, a Peaberry will be a bit more complex in flavor and attributes.
The Utengule estate covers 500 acres and has a large variety of rare trees and flowers growing on the farm that offer shade to the coffee trees, as well as several rivers.
The Mondul estate is comprised of very fertile and uninhabited areas on the slopes of the Mondul mountains in Northern Tanganyika.
